Breathe with the stone
Follow the water for a minute: breathe in for five seconds as the ripple opens, and out for five as it settles. Use it on the bus, at your desk or before a class.
Ready when you are
How to do it
- Sit or stand so your back is long and your shoulders are soft. Rest your hands wherever is comfortable.
- Breathe in gently through your nose for the five seconds the ripple takes to open, and out for the five it takes to settle.
- If five seconds feels long, breathe a little less deeply rather than holding or straining. Your breath should stay quiet.
- Stop and breathe normally if you feel dizzy or uncomfortable.
Slow, even breathing like this, at about six breaths a minute, is a common part of yoga and meditation classes. If you'd like to learn it with a teacher, see meditation in Malta or yoga nidra.
